Top Ten Favorite things I learned from my Creative Writing Textbook:
)Resolutions do not necessarily offer solutions
)Writing is rewriting what you have written
)Truth vs. Fact: You can have one without the other
)If you think there is more happening in memory than in action, you might want to rethink where the story really lies
)"Your story actually begins on page 3"
)Fiction has to make sense. Nonfiction doesn't. Historically, there are very few answers.
)Freewrite, and let the strangeness in you surface
)"Poetry is memorable speech"-W.H. Auden
)grok: to understand in the gut as well as the head
)"Even if you are confessing terrible sins, it is as one-who-is-confessing, which is admirable"
