THEREFORE, all sorts of hypothetical "at MY wedding" situations are being discussed and secretly planned. Flowers/rings/bridesmaid dresses/reception themes/to shove the cake in the face or not (I'm on the NOT side. Future husband: If you push cake into my face you will be my future ex-husband in a second. I'm fun-loving and silly but no one is smearing cake onto this free-spirited bride).
Honestly I've never really thought about it. At all. Except for the cake thing. I'm totally serious about that. Don't do it.
So, I figured I'd start with what that really kicks off all the madness: the ring.
After a little investigating, I've discovered a few things I really enjoy.
I love micropave, and I love sapphire/emerald stones. I'm firmly anti-thick bands. I'm borderline anti-diamonds.
Nikki's thick-banded-diamond-party ring is gorgeous, but the exact opposite of what I'd want.
Ideally- freakishly thin, dainty band with micro-diamonds, then a fat oval emerald/sapphire (and I mean FAT) with micropave all around it.
Think this, only simpler:

What do you guys think? I know my sisters probably have thoughts. Holler.

Super pretty! I love it.. and I think it suits you. Ditto on the fat banded ring, and I also second the no smashing cake in the face.. that will definitely ensure a fight. A big one.
im so smashing cake in your face.
totally you, and totally gorgeous!
mm pretty. soooo NOT me. Thick band me up. With a square diamond :) Haha have you considered a pear shape rock? Those look super pretty with thin bands.
My only problem with thick, all-around diamonds is worries about the underside. On a regular top-side diamond ring, the top sparkle suffers enough with typical rough and tumble. I like original. I like your idea. It's gorgeous.
I am anti-cake smashing. I have seen the most beautiful (and classy) bride taken DOWN TO THE FLOOR by a groom intent on smashing his cake-face (courtesy of her) into her lovely made-up face. Huh.
This is my favorite - saw it on tv, ha, ha. Bride and groom cut the cake, they use their fingers to swish the icing off the knife and give the other a lick off their fingers. Sexy, no cake parts flying.
Yep. Here's another vote for no cake-smashing at the reception.
(And a big silly-grinned endorsement of cake-smashing in the privacy of your honeymoon suite later. Mm-hm.)
Love the ring. Hope your future husband reads your blog. ;)
That ring is beautiful and I know what you mean by wanting the simpler version it. Good news, your ring is in Lincoln, CA. That's were I got my engagement ring. I specifically told my fiance that I wanted to pick it out - I'm the one who's going to wear it forever so why not?
