Look-a-Like

Whether it's a lame way of hitting on me or a legitimate observation, I am constantly confused for other people. "Do I know you from somewhere?" "Have you ever lived in Idaho?" "You look sooooo familiar!" I have heard that TOO MANY TIMES.

I was on the fence for a while but now I have decided: It bugs me when people tell me I look juuuuuust like so-n-so.
Sometimes it can flattering. I've gotten everything from Mila Jovovich to Olivia Wilde to "a hot girl I knew in high school."

The only thing that sucks is when it's people I am actually friends with, because then I feel like a bland wallflower that is easily overlooked.

Since being in Provo I have CONSTANTLY been compared to 2 of my closest friends here.

Exhibit A: Katie Gerber

We lived together, we both nanny, and we both have big blue eyes and big bottom lips. I can definitely see it, but still. Obviously not twins. Some people get carried away using word like "identical" and "separated at birth." Calm down.

Exhibit B: Aenon Johnson

This comparison is for lazy people who have never seen more than one redhead in their lives. We look nothing alike. Red hair is the ONLY similarity. If that is your basis for relation then Conan O' Brian is my dad, and Carrot Top is my little brother. I am actually Pipi Longstocking.

While we're at it, let's throw Kayla in here.

Exhibit C: Kayla Merten

We both work at Sammy's, have a tad too much energy, we are in the same ward, and for a while there shared a hair dresser (me). Comparisons stop there.

Now that I think of it, I am confused for most girls that I become close with. Just last night in Walmart someone called me "Kayla from Sammy's" and a week ago someone said "Do you know Katie Gerber? You could be sisters."

That makes me sad. Am I so generic looking that you are really so perplexed? What does this mean? It's nice to know I am being compared with attractive women but I'd almost rather be odd looking and unique then "cute" and a dime-a-dozen.

Overall, Katie is the only one I really agree with. I see myself in her, and it is freaky. Oddly enough, the only actual RELATIVE I have been compared to is my sister Nikki, who is furthest away in age. And geography. And taste in men (no offense Sam.)

Exhibit D: Nikki (Schroeder) Schultz

Big teeth, big eyes, but other than that.... she is tan and 5'2'', I am freckled and 5'7''!

I don't like this anymore. I want someone to come up to me and go "WOW You are very unique looking, you don't remind me of anyone at all. From now on when I see someone that shares features with you I will run up to THEM and say THEY stole their face from YOU!"

Then I shall rejoice.

You're 5'7"?! I didn't know the Schroeder girls could grow taller than 5'3"! I always thought you looked more like Calee. But I haven't seen a recent pic of her either.
