Soooo my sister Nikki, with whom I live, has recently started up an inspirational blog. Her family blog was getting bombarded with the love and support of complete strangers ,who recognize the spirit it takes to keep a smile in the rough situation that is divorce.

Strangely enough, this inspiration blog has turned scandalous. No worries though, it is only because of a small verbal hiccup left by a supposedly snubbed acquaintence.

The reason I'm blogging about this is because I'm concerned that us schroeder girls will be labeled and dramatic and defensive. We reacted half in jest and half in I WILL KILL YOU. Here is the anonymous comment that started it all, and the other comments left on the entry.

hi anonymous. soooo if you had identified yourself, i might have considered that a sincere apology. Since you didn't, and since you sound a little on the high-school-classmate-who-didn't-get-picked-for-kickball-so-now-he-is-bitter side, let me just say for all of us: not cool.

if you actually want to bond and heal old wounds and all that, step up to the plate and talk to her about it.

if not, take the negativity out on one of your many cats.

Okay. Let me start by saying wow. Anonymous, I have no idea who you are, but obviously I have done something that has caused you pain, and I'm sorry. I can't really apologize for whatever it is, because I don't know what it is. But I am sorry that it has caused pain for you. I really am. I would love to be the bird flying above your statue. I'll put a paper-bag over my head so no one can see it's me, and then I'll feel no guilt whatsoever in being mean, pointing out past faults, and ruining your day.

Saying mean things don't hurt other people if they don't know who said it... right?

I'm glad you chose someone as strong as Nikki to put down in order to reach some level of self-fulfillment.

She's already where you'd like to be. Here's hoping you get there and no one else is insulted along the way.

Wow! I don't think Nikki has a mean bone in her whole body and could ever hurt someone! You must be making it up because you have nothing better to say. Haven't you heard that phrase . . . If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. Why are you checking out her blog(s) if you are so hurt?

WHOA. harsh, kristina. way harsh. i tried to tone down the "mean" but you just let that beast LOOSE. not that i don't agree or anything, cuz I totally do, but whoa.

I'm glad it got across to you, prfsn8r. we go for the throat. especially when it is undeserved.

Lets consider the "who knows?" maybe there is a history there and it turns out nikki is leading a secret life where she changes her name to "Vicky" and is a total brat; however, the chances of TWO schroeder sisters having alter egoes are super low (watch out for Mistina, what a skank). Even if that WAS the case, there is a time and a place.

that anonymous comment was interpreted as a weak attack, and leaving it on the inspirational blog of a girl who is having painful and very public changes in her life makes even the most innocent victim look bad.

Plus last time I checked Nikki is nice to people who are AWFUL to her, so much so that I want to scream and say "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? WILL YOU BE MEAN BACK PLEASE?" But she doesn't. She smiles.

that explains the quick and hostile defense from the girls. just fyi.

there. explained. i'd apologize for how this all got dragged out and dramatized....but honestly, i might never apologize to anyone ever again. Just starts trouble.

Let me just say that, like every family, we have trials and drama and crap. The family support often sways to focus on this person or that person, depending on who needs it most. I have been lucky enough to experience this passionate and perfect love of family when I have felt broken and worthless.

Specifically, Kristina has always been the first to shield and defend me from anything hurtful. So while her words are strong and might have hurt the feelings of 'anonymous', I am so glad she said it, because I know how much it means when it is needed. Whether defending us or crying with us, she is a great ally to have.

Don't pick on anyone in my family. This anonymous person was lucky all the fire stayed on the computer screen. Its a touchy time for my beautiful, perfect, amazing Nikki, and ANYONE who makes that more difficult, even in the slightest, will be swiftly corrected.
