For those of you in my area, I have a recommendation. Take any and all books that you have been thinking of donating and take them to the Almost Perfect Bookstore (off of douglas).
You get 25% of the sticker price of the book, and you can either get cash back or store credit, then wander around and pick out used books that you'd like to read for free!
I went there this week and snagged a few books that have been on my "to read" list for quite some time.
Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison, The Great Short Works of Franz Kafka: The Metamorphosis, In The Penal Colony, and Other stories by Franz Kafka, and A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man by James Joyce. Once I'm finished with Crime and Punishment I'll move on to those bad boys. I get really excited about books. Too excited. And I always end up buying books instead of trading them because it is really difficult for me to give certain books up. What if I want to read it again, even if I have already read it five times?
Next time I'll stray from the classics and focus on more modern books like The Time Travelers Wife by Audrey Neffenegger, The Privileged Planet by Gulliermo Gonzalez, and The Breakfast of Champions by Vonnegut.
Any suggestions? Holler. Need a suggestion? I'm here for you. I've traded books with friends who live far away before, and it is fun. Getting anything in the mail is fun, but it borders hysteria when it is an excellent book.
p.s. that post entitled Memoir was my first stab at a book I've been debating writing. I was hoping for more feedback but it seems I've scared most of you with it. C'est la vie!
